Pyroclastic Flow on Semeru Volcano

Caught on camera in 4K: Pyroclastic flow heading down the steep walls of Semeru Volcano, on the island of Java, Indonesia

To further its mission to make it possible for people to experience the beauty and excitement of the natural world from afar, without the environmental impact from travel, AfarTV has launched a 24/7 4K live stream of the erupting Semeru Volcano on the island of Java in Indonesia. This project is the world's first 4K live stream of an erupting volcano. It offers people, for the first time, a chance to view an erupting volcano with unprecedented detail, including the ability to see volcanic activity happening directly inside the crater, thanks to the positioning and 40X magnification of its camera.

"I'm excited to announce that this is the first of many 4K volcano live streams from around the world. Our goal is to place a 4K webcam in front of every erupting volcano on earth." - Ryan Logtenberg, AfarTV

Not only does this camera provide a first-of-its-kind 4K window to one of the most beautiful volcanoes on earth, but the camera will also be providing a vital service to volcanologists and government officials who need to monitor the volcano's activity to ensure the 950,000 people living within a 35km radius can be alerted promptly should the volcano display signs of a significant eruption. The camera is powered by solar and batteries to ensure the camera remains running during power outages.

AfarTV is also recognized for launching the first 4K live stream in the state of Hawaii. This live stream showcases the Hawaii Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary which gives virtual tourists an up-close view of humpback whale activity during the winter months.

It is unsustainable with today's carbon-intensive modes of travel for everyone to be able to experience these beautiful locations in person.  That's why AfarTV is focusing on bringing the world to them using the latest technology available so that greenhouse gas emissions can be avoided.

The Semeru Volcano live stream is now live and can be found on AfarTV's YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@afartv

Popular dish 'Ainoseju' offers both the kabayaki and shirayaki eel in one dish.

Eel Restaurant Unakiku, a well-established restaurant in Nara Prefecture, will open its second location at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo on March 15, 2023. Just in time for cherry blossom season, the hotel will begin accepting reservations from March 6.

The restaurant's original location is in Kikusuiro, a revered ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant), in Nara Prefecture. Opened in 1891, the venue has long been a favorite for many notable guests from Japan and abroad. In 2016, Kikusuiro opened Eel Restaurant Unakiku to bring exceptional, seasonal eel to more people.

Now, the renowned menu is coming to central Tokyo, providing guests the opportunity to taste the same recipes handed down for more than 130 years without having to travel to Nara. Guests can also dine while appreciating Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo's iconic Japanese garden, abundant with nature.

Diners can enjoy kabayaki, a dish where the eel is grilled slowly over charcoal and dipped in marinade. Shirayaki is another beloved grilled eel dish, using kombu sake and served with wasabi soy sauce or salt. One of the most popular menu items is 'Ainoseju,' which offers diners the opportunity to try both kabayaki and shirayaki eel.

The restaurant will also offer a menu item only available at its Tokyo location. Served in an iron pot, the Unagi Tetsunabe Mabushi can be enjoyed three ways and is designed to be shared in a group. The Tokyo location will also feature an exclusive, newly arranged eel course.

The restaurant will be open every day from 11:00-15:00 (last order) and 17:00- 21:00 (last order). More information can be found on their website: https://www.kikusuiro.com/unakiku-tokyo

"We're thrilled to bring a unique dining experience to NoDo, an epicenter of culture and nightlife in downtown Tampa. foBT Hospitality, a restaurant consulting firm based in New York City, is responsible for the reimagined concept at the historic hotel. The Dan serves dinner seven days a week, weekday lunch, and will soon offer weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Boxhub Secures $12.4M Series A to Modernize Global Shipping Container Trade

Boxhub Secures $12.4M Series A to Modernize Global Shipping Container Trade

The Online Marketplace Will Expand Beyond the U.S., Advance Supply Chain Automation in the Container Industry

Boxhub Secures .4M Series A to Modernize Global Shipping Container Trade
Boxhub's Leadership Team

(L-R) Bryan McEire, CTO; Maximilian Birner, Co-Founder & CEO; Tarun Somani, COO

Boxhub, the largest online marketplace for shipping containers in the United States, has successfully raised a $12.4 million Series A on its mission to revolutionize how shipping containers are traded and used worldwide. The funds will fuel Boxhub's international expansion and industry-shaping product development.

The investment round was led by early-stage venture fund AlleyCorp, with participation from Solasta Ventures, Interplay VC, FJ Labs, and Hum Capital. Boxhub has welcomed AlleyCorp Partner Susannah Shipton to its Board of Directors.

"The global shipping industry relies on antiquated systems ripe for technological advancement. The heavily manual processes underpinning shipping container trade are no exception," said Boxhub co-founder and CEO Maximilian Birner. "Boxhub is already the largest online container marketplace in the U.S., and we're thrilled to partner with top-tier venture capital firms to continue our exciting period of hyper-growth."

Boxhub was founded in 2017 as a digital platform for B2C and B2B shipping container transactions, radically modernizing an industry reliant on ledgers, emails, spreadsheets, and phone calls to transact. The company uses automation and a localized logistics network to introduce shipping containers retired from international trade to a booming secondary market. This approach streamlines a complex, multi-stakeholder fulfillment system and eliminates the need for shipping lines and leasing companies to undertake "empty repositioning," a process estimated to cost the shipping industry $20 billion annually.

"Boxhub is one of those special marketplaces with myriad different categories of buyers and sellers, all of whom were deeply underserved by the incumbent and outdated process of doing business in the global container trade," said Susannah Shipton, Partner at AlleyCorp. "Boxhub's transparent, efficient marketplace not only transforms the dynamics of the existing market, but also substantially broadens access to container supply, for which there is serious and growing demand."

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 and global container shortages, Boxhub has experienced exponential growth over the last few years. The company has established a diverse portfolio of enterprise container buyers ranging from retailers and construction firms with portable storage needs to non-profits creating children's libraries and emergency healthcare clinics.

Beyond large-scale businesses, Boxhub has become fiercely popular with consumers undertaking container-based upcycling initiatives such as tiny houses, vertical farms, home offices, workshops, and swimming pools. The company maintains a 4.7/5-star ("Excellent") average Trustpilot rating.

In 2022, Boxhub raised a $2.4 million seed round led by Delivery Hero founder and CEO Niklas Östberg, with participation from Unity Technologies founder David Helgason; Uber founding engineer Conrad Whelan; and Innoport, the VC arm of maritime leader Schulte Group, among others.

About Boxhub

Boxhub is an e-commerce and logistics platform enabling the frictionless purchase, sale, and delivery of shipping containers. Founded in 2017, the online marketplace has become a trusted partner for thousands of container buyers across the United States. By extending the life of containers and reducing the need for empty repositioning, Boxhub aims to build a more sustainable world — one container at a time. For more information, visit boxhub.com.
