Randy Foye & Ashley Howard Lead Collective to Maximize NIL Endorsement Opportunities and Help Student-Athletes Grow Their Brands

PHILADELPHIA - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Former members of the Villanova Wildcats family and community leaders in the Philadelphia area have partnered with Blueprint Sports, the industry leader in full-service Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collectives, to unveil Friends of Nova — the first NIL collective supporting men's basketball student-athletes at Villanova University. As one of the nation's premier basketball programs, the Villanova Wildcats have won the NCAA D-1 National Championships three times, most recently in 2016 and 2018.

Friends of Nova is spearheaded by Randy Foye and Ashley Howard, two legacy members and well-known figures of the Villanova men's basketball family. Both having deep ties to Villanova University's athletics program, Howard and Foye will serve as co-executive directors of the Friends of Nova collective. Howard previously served as the assistant coach for Villanova University's men's basketball team from 2013 to 2018 under then-Head Coach Jay Wright. Foye played on Villanova University's men's basketball team from 2002 to 2006, before being drafted in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft and beginning his professional basketball career.

"Playing basketball at Villanova University was the honor of a lifetime and this opportunity to kick off Friends of Nova really means a lot to me," said Foye. "We are thrilled to give back and work hand in hand with supporters, fans, community members and alumni to build something meaningful and open doors to new possibilities for future generations of student-athletes."

Local and national businesses, as well as community supporters, have multiple options to engage with Villanova student-athletes. Friends of Nova builds partnerships between businesses, brands, and student-athletes for marketing opportunities, including online influencer campaigns, local appearances, youth sports coaching, speaking engagements, and more. Additionally, tax-deductible contributions can also be made through the BPS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) partner organization formed to educate, encourage, and assist student-athletes in their efforts to engage with the local community through charitable causes.

"Friends of Nova will allow us to help provide opportunities for student-athletes to not only capitalize on their name, image and likeness, but connect with their community and learn about financial literacy," said Howard. "I look forward to spearheading this initiative alongside Randy to help support our Wildcat family and help the Villanova community be a part of something bigger."

NEW YORK - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

From Oct. 11-14, 2022, over a dozen Asian and Pacific Islander (API) nonprofits across the country are launching Civic Action Week, organized by Gold House, to encourage voting, philanthropy, and vaccines. The week will highlight national and local resources heading into midterm elections and flu season, from the Filipino Voter Empowerment Project's PSA starring Timothy Granaderos to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' COVID-19 education campaign We Can Do This

"The pandemic has been particularly hard on many Asians and Pacific Islanders facing increasing socioeconomic challenges. We must mobilize to protect our rights and our health," said Jeremy Tran, COO of Gold House, one of the nonprofits leading Civic Action Week.

Indeed, the collective power of APIs should not be overlooked. Asian American voter turnout surged by 47% nationally and across all presidential battleground states in 2020, becoming the margin of victory in key states like Georgia. Asian Americans also assumed some of the highest national and local offices for the first time — from U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris to Mayors Michelle Wu (Boston), Aftab Pureval (Cincinnati), and Bruce Harrell (Seattle).

These victories did not come easily, however.

Barriers to voting access continue to exist in critical states like Texas, where a recent poll by Asian Texans for Justice showed that 64% of the API electorate are eager to vote.

"South Asians in Texas are up against major obstacles at the ballot box," warns Krisan Swaminathan, Chair of SAAVETX. "Voter suppression laws ensnare our people in antiquated voter registration regulations, complicated ballot access, and stringent voter identification requirements. This directly impacts immigrant communities."

Many API communities have also been facing limited healthcare and financial resources, despite increasing challenges in recent years.

"With the prevalence of chronic illnesses among Pacific Islanders and likeliness of our communities living in multi-family and multi-generational households, prioritizing health in our community today is key to ensuring we aren't one of the hardest hit communities in the next health crisis," Karla Thomas, Deputy Director of EPIC, explains.

But with less than 1% of philanthropic dollars going to API nonprofits, these organizations are working together to empower their communities through creative ways like Civic Action Week.

"Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have faced many challenges over the past few years. But as a community, we did not stay silent," says Kevin Hirano, Director of Operations and Development of APIAVote. "The change we want and need can only happen when we vote and take others with us to the polls."

Xeter Outdoor Announces Spark: The Modular-Designed Outdoor Light That Can Transform for Different Scenarios
Xeter Spark Outdoor Lighting Set

World's first modular-designed light that can transform for different scenarios

NEW YORK - October 10, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Xeter is a startup brand that renovates traditional outdoor equipment to make them fit modern outdoor activities. They will release their first product - Spark, on Kickstarter in mid-October.

The idea comes from Xeter team members' daily experiences carrying a variety of lighting for camping - the flashlight, headlamp, bike light, lantern, and so forth. What if all of them can be brought down into one device? They quickly turned their ideas into product language and created Spark.

Spark has a set of modular light holders that allows consumers to cope with nearly every situation with just one device, saving extra room in one's bag to travel light and enjoy the essence of outdoor activities.

Spark

With the push & pull design, consumers can adjust Spark's focus for both nearby area illumination and long-distance observation, depending on their need. By rotating the front ring, consumers can realize stepless dimming from 1200lm to 5lm. Together with the two features, any lighting needs can be effortlessly dealt with, whether cycling, camping, or hiking.

Putting aside the basic functions of the traditional flashlight, Spark is also a maneuverable smart light bulb with more customizable features that connect to consumers' smartphones. For instance, adjusting the brightness, remote control, selecting flashing modes, etc.

Flashlight Handle

The handle serves Spark as a regular flashlight. With its long battery life, it'll be a reliable companion in all outdoor activities.

Headband

With the headband, Spark can be used as a headlamp. Its back also contains two battery slots to support Spark for longer usage. The adjustable elastic band helps Spark fit the scalp better.

Bike Mount

Cycling in dim light is dangerous. With the bike mount, consumers will be able to ride with a 400-lumens bike light and 360 degrees rotation for illumination. Riding to their destination at night will never become a headache.

Diffuser

A specially designed diffuser helps Spark soften its light to become a lantern for camping. It can be placed on the table or hung on the tent top.

Their project is currently available to preview at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/xeterspark/xeter-spark. Follow their page in advance and get notifications from Kickstarter after it's available.

Onix Pickleball Donates $10,000 to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

ONIX's Paddle with a Purpose campaign gives back to local charity IWIN Foundation

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - September 30, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

ONIX Pickleball is donating $10,000 to the Indiana Women in Need Foundation (IWIN) for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and launching a Paddle with a Purpose campaign to heighten awareness of this horrible disease. The goal is to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds to help local Indiana men and women who might need assistance as well as have people support the effort in finding life-saving research. Paddle with a Purpose campaign consists of a complete line of pink pickleball products including the top-selling Evoke Premier paddle that is used by many pickleball professionals, pink pickleball sport bags, a pink pickleball paddle cover, and a pink sweat wristband, all supporting this great cause.

"ONIX is excited to help make a difference in our local community and beyond by donating proceeds to the IWIN. One in eight women are affected by breast cancer, and being able to commit to giving back is very special, especially for the second year in a row," says Emily Patton, ONIX Brand Manager. "We want to continue showing our support to our community, family, and friends. Everyone who participates in buying the pink products will be donating to this important cause."

The IWIN Foundation continues to support individuals that are currently in treatment for breast cancer statewide; they do this by securing and paying for individual services that relieve emotional, physical, and financial burdens. The IWIN states, "On behalf of the many Hoosiers served with this generous donation, we share our deepest gratitude with the teams at Onix Pickleball and Escalade Sports. Hoosiers struggling to afford basic needs, like transportation, meals, and childcare, during breast cancer treatment, will be given this enormous donation. The IWIN Foundation was rooted in the belief that communities coming together can achieve great things. This is a terrific example of an industry leader supporting some of our most vulnerable in their time of need."

The IWIN Foundation's vision is to be an innovative nonprofit organization, that is built on passion, dedication, and integrity, and where communities feel called to support their mission. They strive to grow and be recognized as the "neighbor next door" to all Indiana individuals enduring breast cancer.

"This donation will make an enormous impact on dozens of Hoosiers struggling to afford basic needs, like transportation, meals, and childcare, during breast cancer treatment. ONIX is not only an industry leader but also a community leader," says Debbie Laswell, Program Director of the IWIN Foundation. "The IWIN Foundation is deeply grateful for the generous support of ONIX Pickleball."
